Scarsdale police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in her home in the village’s Fox Meadow neighborhood.
The death was discovered in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 7, although police have not said what led them to go to the home on Butler Road in the middle of the night.
Police declined to classify what happened in any way but all signs pointed to a suspicious death. The street between Brewster and Hampton roads, next to the playground of the Fox Meadow Elementary School, was blocked off by yellow tape all day as village police and Westchester County police forensic investigators collected evidence. And two prosecutors from the Westchester District Attorney’s Office met with investigators at the scene in the early evening.
In a news release late Tuesday afternoon, shortly before investigators from the Westchester Medical Examiner’s Office arrived at the scene, Detective Lt. Dinis Castro would not speculate on a cause or manner of death.
Earlier, he declined to discuss the case or whether it was being handled as a possible homicide, citing the active investigation, but he emphasized that there was no risk to the public.
