High school standouts across Central Wisconsin have turned in no shortage of marquee performances over the past week with some local wrestlers bringing home state championships.
Find out which high school performances from athletes across Marshfield, Stevens Point, Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids sports stood out as the strongest outings of the week. Also results from local wrestlers who finished with a top-five performance at the 2026 WIAA state wrestling championships.
Here is a look at the top high school performances around the Central Wisconsin area from Feb. 23-March 2.
BOYS BASKETBALL:
Xander Klein, Wausau East: Klein led the Lumberjacks with 22 points in a 75-72 loss to Fox Valley Lutheran on Feb. 23.
Micah Ziebell, Neillsville: Ziebell posted 21 points for Neillsville in a 76-56 win over Owen-Withee on Feb. 23.
Aiden White Eagle, Nekoosa: White Eagle, a sophomore, exploded for 38 points, leading all scorers, in a 88-58 victory over Almond-Bancroft on Feb.23.
Dalton Darr, Pittsville: Darr led Pittsville with 20 points in a 62-57 victory over Northland Lutheran on Feb. 23.
Korz Loken, Iola-Scandinavia: Loken posted a double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds in a 64-47 victory over Wautoma. Then another double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds in Iola-Scandinavia’s following 65-55 victory over Amherst on Feb. 26.
JT Schlaefer, Assumption: Schlaefer led Assumption with 23 points and six rebounds in a 55-49 loss to Auburndale on Feb.23. He helped Assumption knock off Newman Catholic in the Royals next outing, leading all scorers with 28 points.
Brody Gilbertson, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln: Gilbertson dropped 27 points, four rebounds and three steals in a 58-56 loss to Tomah on Feb. 23.
Marcus Kohl, Rosholt: Kohl led Rosholt with 24 points and added 10 rebounds and three steals in a 96-47 victory over Almond-Bancroft on Feb. 24.
Reed Fleischmann, Colby: Fleischmann recorded 25 points, six rebounds and three steals in an overtime loss to Cadott on Feb. 26.
Fin Krcmar, Nekoosa: Krcmar led Nekoosa with 30 points in an 84-69 loss to Mauston on Feb. 26.
Tyson Ott, Merrill: Ott dropped 25 points and 10 rebounds in a 63-53 victory over Lakeland on Feb. 26.
Brayden Reinke, Mosinee: Reinke posted 26 points on 10-of-18 overall shooting in a 75-73 loss to Rhinelander on Feb. 26.
GIRLS BASKETBALL:
Rose Hasenohrl, Auburndale: Hasenohrl posted 19 points in a 60-38 win over Manawa on Feb. 24.
Asia Atkinson, Abbotsford: Atkinson scored 19 points and added 10 rebounds in a 61-54 loss to Cadott on Feb. 24.
Hailey Klumb, Marshfield: Klumb posted a double-double of 15 points, 12 rebounds and three assists in a 61-24 win over Merrill on Feb. 24.
Alexis Gliniecki, Newman Catholic: Gliniecki dominated the glass with seven points and 20 rebounds in a 47-37 win over Prentice on Feb. 24.
Brynlee Grimm, Pittsville: Grimm, a freshman, posted a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds in Pittsville’s 54-40 win over Athens.
Autumn Davis, Spencer: Davis recorded 29 points, 10 rebounds and six steals in a 55-36 win over Colby on Feb. 24.
Jada Seubert, Stevens Point: Seubert scored 21 points in a 62-23 win over Chippewa Falls on Feb. 27.
Leah Awe, Stevens Point: Awe finished with 20 points in a 62-23 win over Chippewa Falls on Feb. 27.
Rory Salvesen, Wittenberg-Birnamwood: Salvesen led Wittenberg-Birnamwood with 36 points in a 78-21 win over Spooner on Feb. 27
Melaina Granquist, Wittenberg-Birnamwood: Granquist posted 24 points for Wittenberg-Birnamwood in a 78-21 win over Spooner on Feb. 27.
GIRLS HOCKEY:
Madeline Kelter, Central Wisconsin Storm: Kelter scored her team’s lone goal in a 2-1 playoff loss to Northland Pines.
BOYS HOCKEY:
Tyler Baars, Mosinee: Baars notched three goals in a 8-1 victory over Stevens Point Pacelli on Feb. 24
Reid Butalla, Mosinee: Butalla dominated with four goals in a 8-1 victory over Stevens Point Pacelli on Feb. 24
Tyler Kluck, Pacelli: Kluck scored Pacelli’s lone goal in a 8-1 loss to Mosinee on Feb. 24
2026 WIAA individual state wrestling:
Blake Underwood, Marathon: Underwood captured a first place finish in Division 3’s 120-pound weight class at the WIAA individual state wrestling tournament.
Erika Sleznikow, Marshfield: Sleznikow won the 138-pound weight class at the WIAA individual state wrestling tournament.
Brooke Huffman, Wittenberg-Birnamwood: Huffman became a three-time state champion, winning the 185-pound weight class by knocking off No. 6 Adrianna Logue of North Crawford/Seneca.
Jackson Freeman, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln: Freeman notched a fifth place finish in Division 1’s 106-pound weight class.
Dakota Kraft, Edgar: Kraft completed fourth place finish in Division 3’s 106-pound weight class at the WIAA individual state wrestling tournament.
Taylor Underwood, Marathon: Underwood took second place in Division 3’s 113-pound weight class at the WIAA individual state wrestling tournament
Colton Weiler, Auburndale: Weiler notched fifth place in Division 3 126-pound weight class at the WIAA individual state wrestling tournament.
Zade Grassel, Auburndale: Grassel notched a third place finish in Division 3’s 132-pound weight class at the WIAA individual state wrestling tournament
Tristen Smazal, Abbotsford/Colby: Smazal notched a fifth place finish in Division 2’s 126-pound weight class at the WIAA individual state wrestling tournament
Aaron Knetter. Stratford: Knetter finished in fourth place in Division 3’s 144-pound weight class at the WIAA individual state wrestling tournament
Remington Skic, Merrill: Skic completed a fourth place finish in Division 2’s 150-pound weight class at the WIAA individual state wrestling tournament
Benjamin Miller, Wittenberg-Birnamwood: Miller finished in third place in Division 3’s 150-pound weight class at the WIAA individual state wrestling tournament.
Gavin Tritz, Assumption/Pacelli: Tritz notched a second place finish in Division 3’s 157-pound weight class at the WIAA individual state wrestling tournament.
Otto Anglemyer, Amherst: Anglemyer notched a fifth place finish in Division 3’s 157-pound weight class at the WIAA individual state wrestling tournament.
Niko Kleinschmidt. D.C. Everest: Kleinschmidt finished in second place in Division 1’s 215-pound weight class at the WIAA individual state wrestling tournament
Aaliyah Miller, Adams-Friendship: Miller finished second in the girls 152-pound weight class at the WIAA individual state wrestling tournament
Kimura Hutter, Adams-Friendship: Hutter finished in second place in the girls 165-pound weight class at the WIAA individual state wrestling tournament.
Lexie Stoflet, Assumption/Pacelli: Stoflet claimed a third place finish in the girls 235-pound weight class at the WIAA individual state wrestling tournament.
