What to know if you're going to Cedarburg's Strawberry Festival

It’s hard to beat a perfectly ripe fruit: a juicy piece of watermelon, a crisp bite from an apple or the tanginess of an orange.

But this weekend in Cedarburg, the focus will be on one fruit in particular: the strawberry. The city will host its annual weekend-long Strawberry Festival, featuring music, food and strawberry-themed vendors.

Here’s everything you need to know if you’re planning to go.

When is the Strawberry Festival?

The Strawberry Festival will be held Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28. The festival’s hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, with the main stage open until 9 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Cedarburg is roughly 30 minutes north of downtown Milwaukee, depending on traffic.

What is there to do at Cedarburg’s Strawberry Festival?

There are a variety of special features at this year’s festival, with plenty of music, food, and shopping to go around.

Third Space Brewing will sponsor a beer garden, located right on the City Hall lawn. There will be rubber duck races – the Cedar Quacker 500 – with hundreds of rubber ducks speeding down Cedar Creek, all to support Habitat for Humanity Ozaukee.

A full list of performers can be found online, but there are bands playing across a variety of genres: blues, folk, pop hits and 80s and 90s alternative.

There will be more than few food and drink options too, including themed options such as strawberry brats and strawberry shortcake.

How do I get there?

Street parking is available, but festival organizers warn it can be tricky. There are also six parking lots offering parking between $10 and $20, with free shuttles.

There is construction on Washington Avenue, which festival organizers say means people traveling on Interstate 43 should take exit 89 to Cedarburg, then Pioneer Road west to Wauwatosa Road, then head north.
