Last week, Wisconsin director of athletics Chris McIntosh announced that Luke Fickell will remain as the Badgers football coach next season.
The announcement made by McIntosh on Nov. 6 put to rest any doubts about Fickell’s future with the program. UW had lost six consecutive games and 11 overall to power conference teams dating to last season, that is, before a dramatic 13-10 victory over Washington (ranked No. 24 in the AP poll entering the game), on Saturday, Nov. 8.
Right after McIntosh’s announcement, we asked readers if they agreed with the decision to bring back Fickell for 2026.
In a landslide, the overwhelming majority of readers, or 86%, were against the move and voted “No, I do not agree with UW’s decision” to keep Fickell for another season.
The remaining 14% (406 of 2,909 total votes) believe UW made the right move and voted, “Yes, I agree with UW’s decision” to give Fickell another season at the helm.
To read more about UW’s decision, here’s what Fickell had to say following UW’s victory Saturday, after having received McIntosh’s support earlier in the week.
