After the leftovers from Thanksgiving are tucked away in the refrigerator, many folks will cap off the holiday weekend by heading to a local tree farm for a cherished tradition — choosing and cutting down their own Christmas tree. Most retail tree lots and tree farms open up on Black Friday.
Before you head out to find the perfect tree, here are a few things to know. If you plan to cut your own tree, check to see if the farm of your choice provides handsaws or bring your own. Be sure to pack some rope or bungee cords to secure the tree to the top of the vehicle. Heading into December, the weather is sure to be brisk so dress appropriately. If you’re planning to bring Fido along, be sure the tree farm allows pets (be sure to bring a leash and clean-up bag along if they do).
Be sure to tuck some cash in your wallet as many farms do not accept credit cards and trees tend to cost at least $50 or more.
To help you get in the holiday spirit, here is a list of cut-your-own Christmas tree farms in and around Green Bay.
