OSHKOSH – The U.S. Air National Guard will be front and center at EAA AirVenture, serving as the featured service component for the fly-in convention at Wittman Regional Airport.
EAA made the announcement ahead of the 72nd edition of AirVenture, slated for July 21-27.
“Participating in the nation’s largest airshow is a tremendous opportunity for our Guard Airmen to showcase the skill, precision and capability of the Air National Guard,” said U.S Air Force Maj. Gen. Duke Pirak, acting director of the Air National Guard.
“This airshow is more than a public event — it’s a powerful demonstration of the Air National Guard’s unrivaled airpower and the professionalism of the men and women who deliver it every day.”
With more than 108,000 Airmen and 1,000 aircraft, the Air National Guard serves as a primary reserve to the U.S. Air Force.
According to an EAA news release, the Air National Guard executes more than 30% of the Air Force’s global operational airpower requirements and more than 94% of its homeland defense responsibilities.
Units from about seven states will perform a series of flying demonstrations and aircraft displays as part of AirVenture’s featured service component.
“The Air National Guard is an important part of the country’s capabilities in every state and maintains impressive levels of expertise and experience within the entire spectrum of military aircraft,” said EAA’s vice president of communities and member programs, Rick Larsen.
