Schooner sails coming to Two Rivers and Manitowoc

TWO RIVERS – An educational Lake Michigan sailing experience on a 77-foot schooner called Inland Seas will be available in Two Rivers on July 28 and in Manitowoc on July 29.

The experience is available thanks to a partnership between the Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary and the Inland Seas Education Association.

The sails, one at 8:45 a.m. and one at 1:15 p.m., will last about three hours. Participants will help sail the vessel, take water quality samples, learn about aquatic species and explore the Great Lakes ecosystem firsthand.

How to sign up for the Inland Seas sails

Spots are limited and advanced registration is encouraged. Tickets are $5 for participants younger than 18 years old and $10 for adults. Purchase tickets by visiting shipwreckcoastfriends.org.

Where to meet in Two Rivers and Manitowoc

For those participating in Two Rivers, meet at Coast Guard Park on East Street; and those participating in Manitowoc will meet at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum on Maritime Drive.

Free deck tours offered in Manitowoc

Free deck tours will be offered on the schooner at 5-6:30 p.m. July 29 while docked near the Wisconsin Maritime Museum.
