RIB MOUNTAIN – Readers have asked how much longer construction will continue at Walmart in Rib Mountain, and we now know the remodeling project will last a few more months.
Construction started in March, and crews have been working throughout the store to widen aisles, install new fixtures and interactive displays, add an assortment of healthy foods and affordable brands, remodel the pharmacy, expand the liquor and beer selection and install new flooring, a spokesperson for Walmart told a Wausau Daily Herald reporter.
The spokesperson said the store is also expanding its digital fulfilment space and convenience options, offering delivery in as little as one hour. Walmart is also aiming to create a seamless store app experience letting customers navigate aisles and access store services like auto care. As construction continues, the store will stay open during its regular hours, the spokesperson said.
The store’s grand re-opening and community celebration is scheduled for July 24 at 226100 Rib Mountain Drive, celebrating the upgrades and new look for the store that first opened in 1994, the spokesperson said.
The Rib Mountain store remodel is one of 10 remodeling projects in Wisconsin this year, aiming to expand its offering of healthy foods, affordable and trending items and enhance in-store and online experiences, according to a press release from Walmart. Other stores in the state undergoing remodeling projects include Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Medford, Neenah, New Richmond, Rice Lake, Sparta, St. Croix Falls and Superior.
The Wisconsin stores are part of Walmart’s plan to remodel more than 650 Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets this year across the country.
