Opening weekend for Downtown Farmers' Market headlines Area Happenings

Main Street Music, 6-8 p.m. Thursday, 7-8:30 p.m. Friday and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Downtown Wooster Pavilion. The performers featured will be Rich Bellanco (Thursday), who will play soft rock hits from the 60s; The Wooster High School Jazz Band (Friday); and Just DeeDee Music (Saturday), who will perform acoustic rock, pop, country and folk covers.

Downtown Wooster Farmers’ Market, 8 a.m.-noon Saturday,North Market Street between Liberty and North Streets. Join us for Opening Day of Main Street Wooster’s Farmers Market. Find the fresh produce, bakery, meats, teas, jams, honey, soaps, wine and artisan goods. Free live music is performed from 9-11 a.m. It’s a great way to start the weekend with family. The sensory-friendly hour is 8-9 a.m. Dogs are welcome after 9 a.m.

Color Fun 1 mile Walk & 5K Fun Run, 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Freer Field 1264 Center St., Ashland. Raise $25 in donations and you will receive an FFM Color Fun T-shirt to show off the colorful powderthrown from the color stations along the route. Strollers & wheelchairs are welcome. Southern Gospel group The Hoppers, 7 p.m. Saturday, Ohio Star Theater, 1387 Old Route 39, Sugarcreek. Tickets start at $42, available from the Ohio Star Theater Box Office, by phone at 855-344-7547 and online at OhioStarTheater.com.

Swiss Steak Dinner, 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Beach City American Legion Hall Post 549, 125, 3rd Avenue. Drive-thru Carry-Out only. Meal includes three bean salad, applesauce, mashed potatoes/ homemade gravy, corn, bread and dessert for the cost of $14. Quart size three bean salad will be available for purchase. The Ladies Auxiliary will have Poppies available also.

Ladies Night Out, 4:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 21, in Historic Downtown Wooster. Main Street Wooster gives away 400 swag bags at this fun event for the women in the community. Enjoy live music, giveaways, and so much more. The theme for the night is: LNO Through the Decades (dress up in different decade clothing).

Ashland Cancer Crusaders Relay For Life event, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday, June 20, Ashland County Fairgrounds. This annual event raises money for the American Cancer Society and the fight against cancer. Activities during the event will include a car show and a cornhole tournament starting at 11:00 with both registrations beginning at 10:00. A silent auction will be from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. and a vendor show will also be ongoing during the entire time. There will also be food trucks.
