Packers still in playoff hunt, but tickets for last games are cheap

If the Green Bay Packers have a playoff game this season, it likely won’t be at Lambeau Field, but the odds aren’t zero.

If the Packers, who lost to the Chicago Bears 22-16 in overtime on Dec. 20 in Chicago, win their final two games and the Bears, who play San Francisco and Detroit to end the season, lose both games, the Packers will be the winner of the NFC North and get a home playoff game. Otherwise they’ll be on the road, possibly back in Chicago.

Detroit is the only team that could deprive the Packers of a playoff berth. They trail the Packers by a game and a half with two games left, so their chance of overtaking Green Bay is slim, but it’s also not zero.

The Packers play the Baltimore Ravens at home on Dec. 27, a Saturday, and the Minnesota Vikings in Minneapolis at a time and date to be announced.

When, where and who the Packers could face in the playoffs is unknown, but that doesn’t keep the secondary market from putting a value on those tickets. As of Dec. 22, the average get-in price of a wild card playoff game for the Packers was $439.

The following are secondary market ticket prices as of Dec. 22 and our guesses as to why they are where they are.

For our look at Packers’ tickets prices, we average the lowest ticket prices for two seats at 11 secondary-market websites: Event USA, Gametime, Green Bay Ticket Service, SeatGeek, StubHub, TicketIQ, Ticket King, Ticketmaster, TickPick, TicketSmarter and Vivid Seats.

Dec. 27, 7 p.m., Baltimore Ravens, Lambeau Field, Peacock network (NBC-26 in Green Bay and WTMJ 4 in Milwaukee)

Matt LaFleur vs. Ravens: 1-0, have not played at Lambeau Field

Last week: New England Patriots 28, Ravens 24

Records: Ravens 7-8, Patriots 12-3

What is special about this game? After last week’s loss to the Chicago Bears, the Packers need to win at least one of their final two games to keep Detroit at bay, to say nothing of keeping alive a chance to overtake the Bears for the NFC North lead.

The 7-8 Ravens were expected to be a Super Bowl contender, but have not had that kind of season. They are 2-1 against the NFC North, however, having defeated the Bears and Minnesota Vikings.

The Packers have their own issues. They continue to suffer injuries to key players, and don’t know if quarterback Jordan Love, who suffered a concussion against the Bears, will be available this week. Backup quarterback Malik Willis has an injured shoulder.

“I’d say he’s pretty sore,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur said after the game. “That’s a legitimate deal that he’s dealing with. He’s going to be another guy that we’ll see where he’s at as we progress. That further complicates the other problem.”

For Packers fans who don’t mind the cold, this is a great opportunity to see a game at Lambeau. The average get-in price is $28 less than the most expensive seat the the Lambeau Field bowl. Those prices don’t come along often.

Jan. 3 or 4, Time TBD, Minnesota Vikings, U.S. Bank Stadium, Network TDB

Matt LaFleur vs. Vikings: 7-6, including 3-3 at U.S. Bank Stadium

Last week: Vikings 16, New York Giants 13

Records: Vikings 7-8, Giants 2-13

What is special about this game? This could be a must-win game if the Packers don’t defeat the Baltimore Ravens or if Green Bay still has a chance to pass the Bears in the NFC North standings. On the other hand, it could be meaningless – i.e. Bears beat San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions lose to the Vikings and Packers defeat the Ravens – in which case you can expect the Packers to offer a much-needed day off to key players.

The Vikings have a three-game winning streak, but it’s against the Washington Commanders, Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants, who have a combined record of 12-32-1. Tickets edged up a bit during the last week, but at $132 average get-in price, it’s still a good deal.
