Publix Supermarkets will open its latest Florida store in St. Augustine next month, the second Publix in the area to get a grand opening within two months.
The new 48,387-square-foot store, complete with pharmacy, will open Jan. 15, 2026, at Elevation Pointe on State Road 16, according to the company’s coming-soon page. A site plan provided to St. Johns County also shows an attached 2,100-square-foot liquor store.
The announcement comes just over a month after an existing Publix at Anastasia Plaza reopened following a year of demolition and remodeling to convert it into the company’s new format. The Lakeland-based grocery store chain has opened or reopened dozens of stores in 2025, many of them in Florida.
New Publix stores have included wider lanes, canopied outdoor seating areas, self-checkout lanes, expanded deli options like burrito bowls and fresh baked pizza, a salad bar, hot food buffet, olive bar and popcorn stand, and larger displays in the bakery, meat and seafood departments.
Two locations opened in Jacksonville in November and December, more in Naples and Lakeland in November, and stores opened in Palm Bay and Tampa in October. Several more locations are in the works, including another in Viera and one coming to downtown Jacksonville for the first time.

More grocery chains expanding in Florida
Publix isn’t the only chain making big changes.
In 2025, discount grocery chain Aldi opened about 60 locations in the Sunshine State, many of them converted Winn-Dixie locations from Aldi’s brief acquisition of that company in 2024-2025. It was part of a push for the chain to open 225 new stores nationwide in 2025, the most they’ve ever opened in a single year.
Meanwhile Trader Joe’s, a more upscale grocery destination, opened a location in Daytona Beach in November and another in Melbourne on Dec. 3.
