Packers announce contract extension for DL Devonte Wyatt

The three-year contract extension between defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt and the Green Bay Packers is now official. The team announced the extension on Monday, the same day when rookies and injured players report to training camp. Wyatt is coming back from a significant lower leg injury suffered in November of last year.

The deal between Wyatt and the Packers was reported initially as a three-year, $57 million extension, including a $20 million signing bonus. The three new years are expected to be tacked onto the final year of his rookie deal, keeping him in Green Bay through the 2029 season, although official details are not currently public.

Mark Oldacres of Packers Wire dove into the “calculated gamble” of the extension here.

Wyatt was a first-round pick of the Packers in the 2022 draft.

His bio from the Packers:

Wyatt (6-3, 304), a fifth-year player out of the University of Georgia, was originally selected by the Packers in the first round (No. 28 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. He has played in 57 regular-season games for Green Bay with 15 starts, recording 101 tackles (58 solo), 21 tackles for a loss, 16 sacks, 30 QB hits, three passes defensed, a forced fumble and three fumble recoveries. Wyatt has also played in three postseason contests with one start and posted two tackles (both solo). He was one of two Packers (DL Rashan Gary) to post four-plus sacks in each of the last three seasons (2023-25). Wyatt was one of only five players in the NFL in 2024 with five-plus sacks (five), nine-plus tackles for a loss (career-best nine) and multiple fumble recoveries (career-high two), becoming the first Green Bay defensive lineman to hit those marks in a season dating back to 2000.

Wyatt will become the centerpiece of the Packers’ interior defensive line in 2026. He and veteran addition Javon Hargrave are expected to play the majority of the snaps at defensive tackle in the new 3-4 front.
