Oshkosh man set his vehicle on fire, damaging nearby home, police say

OSHKOSH – A 28-year-old Oshkosh man was arrested after police say he intentionally set his vehicle on fire Tuesday night, causing flames to spread to a neighboring home.

Oshkosh police officers responded about 8:19 p.m. July 21 to a vehicle fire in the 600 block of Frederick Street, according to the Oshkosh Police Department.

When officers arrived, they found the man, who admitted to setting his vehicle on fire and damaging windows inside his home, police said. Police did not release the man’s name.

The fire spread to a nearby house and damaged its siding. Police said no injuries were reported.

The man was taken into custody on suspicion of arson to a building and criminal damage to property, police said.

Police said intentional acts of arson and property damage create serious safety risks because fires can spread quickly and threaten nearby homes.
