Boulder attack was act of cruel, senseless violence

The recent attack on a group raising awareness for Israeli hostages in Boulder, Colorado, was horrific. Nothing justifies the harming of innocent people.

As a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Oshkosh, I strongly condemn this act of violence. The sanctity of life is a fundamental principle in Islam. Such senseless violence — whether motivated by politics, religion or any other factor — has no place in our society.

I firmly believe in our community’s motto, “Love for All, Hatred for None,” which is rooted in nonviolence and a commitment to true justice and peace.

The attack in Boulder was a cruel act. It was not moral, it was not courageous and it was certainly not Islamic. What our world needs now, more than ever, is love, compassion, unity and justice for all.
