Milwaukee County has delayed its transition to online-only property foreclosure sales.
Due to technical complications with its online sales platform, the county will continue to hold property foreclosure auctions in person “until further notice,” the sheriff’s office announced July 31.
The county previously planned to move all foreclosure auctions online by Monday, Aug. 3. Instead, sales will resume Aug. 10 in Room B-12 of the Milwaukee County Public Safety Building, 821 W. State St.
Bid4Assets, an online real estate auction platform, partnered with the sheriff’s office to host the sales. It’s expected to resolve the technical issues in August, the office said, “after which the transition to online sales will resume.”
Sheriff Denita Ball said earlier in July the move will increase efficiency and public access.
“By moving our foreclosure sales online, we are bringing a traditional courthouse process into the digital age,” Ball said in a statement. “This allows participants to review available properties, register, and place bids securely and conveniently from any location.”
Available properties, auction details and bidder registration will be available at www.Bid4Assets.com.
Additional information on registration requirements, deposit rules and auction schedules will be found on both the sheriff’s office website and the Bid4Assets platform.
