Winnebago County is slowly but surely on the return after a tornado cut a path of devastation across the area late last month that has seen zero fatalities.
Roughly 75% of power has been restored to Menasha Utilities service area, according to Menasha Mayor Austin Hammond at an Aug. 1 virtual press conference. Roughly 25% never lost power, Hammond explained. If customers remain without power, Hammond asked that they call the utilities service provider at (920) 967-3400.
Fox Crossing Village Manager Jeffrey S. Sturgell notified residents that the water boil alert placed on the eastside system was lifted as of 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1. Water has returned to normal, according to Sturgell.
Officials confirmed that emergency visits have trended downward and that no fatalities or missing persons have been reported since the storm hit the area July 27.
On Aug. 2, clean-up crews will continue to collect storm-related waste in designated areas. Hammond asked residents to place waste on the curb and move vehicles out of the street by 6 a.m. to help crews safely and efficiently collect waste.
The Public Works crew will continue to remove tree debris in designated areas.
The Wisconsin National Guard arrived to the area on Aug. 2 after Gov. Tony Evers announced they would be deployed to help with debris removal, traffic and safety support, wellness checks and other services requested by county officials. Approximately 2,700 volunteers have also signed up to help with clean-up efforts.
Meals will be available for residents at Menasha High School from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily until further notice.
Curfew will remain in effect for the City of Menasha and the Village of Fox Crossing from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Hammond said. A burn ban also remains in effect for Menasha, Fox Crossing and Neenah.
