Developers of the Green Bay Public Market have asked Green Bay authorities for more time to complete their centerpiece project for downtown beset by delays in recent years.
The city’s Redevelopment Authority will consider a request on Jan. 13 from On Broadway Inc. to amend a development agreement reflecting an updated timeline for construction to complete the multivendor food hall at 211 N. Broadway.
Since it was first announced in January 2022, On Broadway has pushed back the market’s opening date citing increases in construction costs and the need to raise additional money to cover the costs. The Public Market’s most recent construction update on its website is from June 16-20. Gov. Tony Evers toured the Public Market site June 10 as On Broadway sought additional state dollars for the project.
When will the Green Bay Public Market be completed under the proposed changes?
The proposed amendments would give On Broadway almost two years, until Dec. 31, 2027, to complete the renovation project. The amendments also would set fresh deadlines for it to submit updated, revised documentation related to the project.

The updates the committee will consider do not include changes to the $3 million in assistance included in the original agreement the Green Bay City Council approved in March 2025.
The Redevelopment Authority agenda indicates the board could go into closed session “for purposes of deliberating or negotiating the sale of public properties, investing of public funds or conducting other specified public business as necessary for competitive or bargaining reasons.”
