After announcing the resignation of its superintendent June 16, the Germantown School District on June 23 announced that two of its current employees will continue as interim co-superintendents through the coming school year.
In an emailed statement, the Germantown School Board said the district’s director of teaching and learning, Jake Misiak, and the district’s director of human resources, Martin Castro, will continue to serve as interim co-superintendents for 2026-27.
Misiak and Castro have been serving as the district’s interim co-superintendents since April, when Superintendent Chris Reuter went on leave for an unspecified personal matter. A letter to parents at the time from School Board President Russell Ewert did not explain what the personal matter was or how long he would be on leave.
Ewert announced June 16 that Reuter, who had served as the district’s superintendent since 2022-23, had submitted his resignation effective June 30. His statement did not share Reuter’s reasons for resigning. The Journal Sentinel has requested records related to his resignation.
In announcing Misiak and Castro’s continued roles, the board said “maintaining this structure will provide stability, continuity, and consistent leadership for students, families, staff, and the community.”
The board also said it has directed the district’s administrative team to issue a request for proposal for a search firm to support the search for the district’s next permanent superintendent. The process will include opportunities for family, staff and community member input and is expected to take several months. The board added that it would share additional information as it becomes available.
