Fans frustrated by abrupt, early end to May 16 Dethklok show at Landmark Live

A May 16 show at Landmark Credit Union Live featuring metal bands Dethklok and Amon Amarth ended early, with attendees reporting that heavy smoke and fog effects tripped fire alarms.

Fans said on social media that Dethklok was about halfway through their set when smoke alarms went off, lights went out and sound was cut. Amon Amarth and opener Castle Rat got through their earlier sets with no issues.

Some attendees reported a delay in communication to the crowd, with one user on Reddit writing the “building could have actually been on fire and no one would know.”

Both the venue and Brendon Small of Dethklok posted on Instagram, thanking fans for their cooperation and sharing that ticket holders would receive an email with more information soon.

“Since the show ended early, we’re working with the venue to make this right for you,” Small wrote.

It is unclear whether attendees will receive refunds. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reached out to the venue and a Live Nation representative for more information about smoke alarms and what caused the show to end early. Neither have responded or released additional details.

Live Nation owns a majority stake in Frank Productions, the parent company of Madison-based promoter FPC Live. Landmark is the first venue in Milwaukee operated by FPC Live.

Landmark Credit Union Live is downtown Milwaukee’s newest music venue. The 83,000-square-foot, 4,500-person-capacity venue opened in February.
