Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, a Democratic candidate for governor, is condemning language used in an old social media account he says he shared with others.
The Twitter (now X) account @No_pork_plz, named “Dirt McGirk,” includes posts about women and race, and derogatory LGBTQ references. It was created in 2010 and the last posts are from 2014, when the account retweeted posts by @DavidCrowleyWI.
The tagline for the account reads, “A different side of me…”
“Follow No_pork_plz for those who don’t know it’s DC aka David bka Dirty or black ass dude hahaha… just STFU and follow #retweet,” one post reads.
Some of the posts are mundane: “I’m in Racine again today!!! In the office alone all day until 6pm… What to do!? Somebody keep me company lol.”
But others are profane. “That’s just NASTY!!! I wouldn’t (expletive) her with YOUR dick!!!! #slapyourself,” reads one post from May 25, 2010.
Another reads, “I love kicking it with drunk women!!!!”
And a May 29, 2010 post reads, “only n- like you have #gaythoughts LOL fuggin tamberine player LOL.”
The posts ranged from 2010 to 2014, when Crowley was about 24 to 28 years old. He is now 40.
A Crowley campaign spokesperson said there were a number of people with access and could post to the account.
“David was one of many people who had access to this Twitter account more than a decade and a half ago,” the spokesperson said. “He did not write or post the problematic content in question.”
They did acknowledge that he had posted about thinking he was a father before realizing that a baby was not his child.
Crowley previously spoke to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel about that experience.
“David did post on the page about his paternity history, which he has publicly spoken about in the past,” the spokesperson said. “Bottom line: David strongly condemns the language used on the page and the people who know him recognize he would never say these things.”
In a statement, Crowley condemned the language use it in the posts and said he would never us it.
“The people who know me will be the first to tell you that I would never say these things,” Crowley said. “Bottom line: I strongly condemn the language used in these posts from a decade and a half ago.”
