An employee has died following a shooting at a door manufacturing facility in Mason, the company said in a statement published on Facebook.
Enquirer media partner Fox 19 reported Mason police were first called to the facility on Reading Road around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 22. Initial reports indicated that an employee had been shot inside one of the warehouses, and when officers arrived, they located a dead man, Mason Police Chief Levi Wells said at a press conference.
Police have not released the man’s identity, but Wells said family has been notified
A person of interest, who was “located in another jurisdiction,” is in custody, Wells said. An investigation remains ongoing.
Carter Lumber’s Facebook post said the company was unable to provide additional details due to the ongoing investigation and out of respect for those affected.
“Our deepest condolences are with our employee’s family, loved ones, and coworkers during this incredibly difficult time. We are focused on supporting our employees and everyone impacted by this tragic event,” reads the Facebook post.
