A 50-year-old woman from Arkansas is dead following a motorcycle crash on Thursday near Synder, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash happened Thursday around 12:36 p.m. on U.S. Highway 84 and South Ennis Creek Road, the DPS said in a media release.
Jimmy Garza, 67, of Brownfield was driving a 2022 Ford Bronco SUV, the DPS said. Daniel Martin, 55, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, was driving a 2019 Harley-Davidson Road Glide motorcycle with passenger Theresa Martin, 50.
According to the DPS preliminary investigation, Garza entered the highway from Ennis Creek Road, traveling north in the left lane. Daniel was also traveling north on U.S. Highway 84 in the left lane and was approaching Garza’s vehicle.
Daniel Martin failed to control his speed and struck Garza’s vehicle from behind, according to the media release.
Theresa Martin was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash, the DPS said. Daniel Martin had an incapacitating injury and was transported to UMC Lubbock.
The Martins were both wearing helmets, the DPS said. Garza was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.
Weather and road conditions were clear and dry, the DPS said.
