The City of Wolfforth will officially break ground next week on critical roadway improvements at Alcove Avenue and Donald Preston Drive, marking a major milestone in the city’s continued investment in infrastructure, mobility and long-term growth.
The ceremony, set for 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 27, will take place at Alcove Avenue and North 5th Street, where city leaders, project partners, and community members will gather to celebrate the start of construction on a project designed to enhance connectivity and support future development.
This project follows the City Council’s recent approval of a construction contract for Alcove Avenue, a key corridor that will ultimately connect the Marsha Sharp Freeway to 66th Street and serve as an important north-south route through the community.
Planned as a phased project, initial construction will include roadway development, drainage improvements, and a railroad crossing, with the roadway designed to expand to five lanes as growth continues.
“This project represents more than just a road; it’s about preparing Wolfforth for the next chapter of growth,” said Mayor Charles Addington. “By investing in infrastructure today, we are creating opportunities for future development, improving daily mobility for our residents, and strengthening the foundation of our local economy.”
The Alcove Avenue and Donald Preston Drive improvements are part of a broader effort to proactively address growth and ensure the city’s infrastructure keeps pace with increasing demand. Construction is expected to begin immediately following the groundbreaking, with an anticipated completion in Summer 2027.
City officials encourage residents, business leaders, and community stakeholders to attend the groundbreaking ceremony and be part of this important moment for Wolfforth.
