Churches and campus ministries near Texas Tech want George Strait fans to write this down and take a little note before parking at the King of Country’s highly touted concerts Friday and Saturday in Lubbock.
Like they do before Red Raider home football games, a handful of churches will use their parking lots near campus to give fans close access to the shows at Jones AT&T while raising funds for their youth groups and other ministry projects.
Lubbock churches, campus ministries offer parking for George Strait at Texas Tech
The Catholic Diocese of Lubbock has different church lots near campus where people can park for $20 per vehicle starting at 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday. That includes the parking lots associated with the John Saleh Catholic Student Center at 2217 Main St., with proceeds supporting the campus ministry effort. Their smaller lots are mainly accessible in the 2300 block of Broadway and are run by the College Knights Council.
The St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church parking lots in the 2300 block of Main Street will be run by the Knights of Columbus Council 12803, said J.J. Lara, grand knight for the St. Elizabeth’s chapter.
All of those lots will be available for $20 per vehicle and will open at 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The Knights council donates to philanthropic efforts, including the Special Olympics, coats for children and other church needs.
First Christian Church at 2323 Broadway will offer its parking spots for $40 each starting at 2:30 p.m. each day. Proceeds benefit the church’s Children and Youth Ministries.
Episcopal Student Ministry at Texas Tech Canterbury, associated with St. Paul on the Plains Episcopal Church, will offer its spaces for $10 each starting at 3 p.m. each day. The lot is located on 16th Street between Avenue Y and X, just east of University Avenue. Proceeds will benefit the student ministry and youth retreats.
St. John’s United Methodist Church, 1501 University Ave., will offer its spaces for $10 each starting at 3 p.m. each day, with proceeds supporting the church.
Texas Tech campus parking for George Strait concert in Lubbock
For on-campus parking options, concert-goers are encouraged to buy parking in advance and arrive early. The lots will open at 2:30 p.m. both days, and the stadium will open 90 minutes before the show begins. Campus parking for the C-1 Commuter West lot must be pre-purchased at texastech.evenue.net/list/CP and will not be sold in-person, according to a news release from Texas Tech.
All parking east of Jones AT&T Stadium is currently closed through April 27 for the production team.

Westbrook has caught the eyes, and ears, of Billboard as a December Country Rookie of the Month.
Miranda Lambert has been a country music legend, actress, author, restauranteur, and advocate since 2001. From Longview, Texas, Lambert is the most-awarded artist in Academy of Country Music history.
