What are you doing this weekend? That can be one of the most anticipated, and sometimes dreaded, questions that awaits us all at the conclusion of a busy week.
While the weekend finally provides us with that much-needed “me” time, it can sometimes be daunting trying to figure out exactly what is going on to participate in.
That’s why we went ahead and did the work for you and rounded up some of the top local events happening here in Abilene. Here are three local events you won’t want to miss.
1. Spring Market at the Mill
Enjoy a Saturday of shopping, snacks and drinks at the annual Spring Market at the Mill event center located at 239 Locust St., Abilene.
Open from noon to 4 p.m., the spring-themed shopping experience is set to feature 40 local Abilene businesses with photo ops, food, drinks and fun. The first 50 people in line for the event will also receive free goodies.
The event is free to attend, and those interested can find more information on the Spring Market Facebook page.
2. Live Music at the Big Country Beer Garden
Oklahoma’s The Damn Quails will be back this weekend on Saturday at the Big Country Beer Garden located at 806 S. Second St. Kick back and relax for an evening of live folk and Americana music with cold beer and cocktails from the beer garden.
The beergarden opens at 3 p.m., and live music begins at 8 p.m. with opener Gatlin Johnson. Tickets can be purchased in advance online for $15 or at the door for $20. There is also an option to reserve a table for four for $120. The show is 18 and up.
3. Abilene Christian University Softball Games
College softball season is in full swing here in the big country, and the Abilene Christian University team is gearing up for a weekend of exciting home games.
On Friday, ACU will compete against the Cal Baptist University Lancers in a doubleheader at Poly Wells Field located at 782 E Ambler Ave. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., and admission to the game is free.
On Saturday, ACU is set to compete again against the Cal Baptist University Lancers for ACU’s senior night at Poly Wells Field. First pitch is set for noon, and admission to the game is free.
