Where Texas Tech women's basketball stands in March Madness bracket predictions

Selection Sunday has arrived, and the Texas Tech women’s basketball team is poised to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2013.

The Lady Raiders (25-7) last played March 5, a 58-51 loss to Kansas State in the Big 12 tournament quarterfinals. Tech enters the postseason 5-5 in its past 10 games.

Still, the Lady Raiders are ranked No. 31 in Saturday’s NET rankings and went 3-1 in Quad 1 games. They were 5-6 in Quad 2.

Before the final selections are announced, we’re keeping track of the last batch of bracketology projections for Tech. Here’s where things stand.

Where Texas Tech women’s basketball stands in final March Madness bracket projections on Selection Sunday

USA TODAY: 7-seed (Fort Worth Region 3)

12:25 p.m. — Mitchell Northam’s final prediction came out Sunday morning. He has Tech opening the tournament against 10-seed Syracuse in Iowa City, Iowa. The host Hawkeyes would face 15-seed Missouri State.

CBS Sports: 7-seed (Fort Worth Region 3)

12:20 p.m. — Connor Groel released his final projection Sunday morning, with Tech slotted to Durham, North Carolina, with host Duke. The Lady Raiders would face 10-seed Rhode Island, and the Blue Devils would play 15-seed FDU.

ESPN: 6-seed (Fort Worth Region 1)

12:06 p.m. — Charlie Creme released an updated projection at 10:35 p.m. Saturday, but the only changes were to the other teams in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The latest bracket has Tech facing 11-seed Gonzaga and host Michigan playing 14-seed Western Illinois.

Charlie Creme’s latest projection, released at 7:10 p.m. Saturday, has Tech as a 6-seed in a quadrant hosted by 3-seed Michigan in Ann Arbor. The Lady Raiders would face 11-seed Fairfield, the MAAC tournament champions. The Wolverines would take on 14-seed UC San Diego, which won the Big West.

Her Hoop Stats: 7-seed (Fort Worth Region 1)

12:11 p.m. — A new projection released at 10:28 p.m. Saturday has little change involving Tech. The Lady Raiders are still predicted to head to Nashville and face 10-seed Clemson. The latest has Vanderbilt playing 15-seed Jacksonville.

In Megan Gauer’s bracketology released Friday evening, 7-seed Tech would face 10-seed Clemson in Nashville, Tennessee. Host and 2-seed Vanderbilt was projected to play 15-seed Hawaii, but the Rainbow Wahine lost to UC San Diego in the Big West final.

The IX Sports: 7-seed (Sacramento Region 4)

12:12 p.m. — Walter’s updated bracket came out Sunday, again with minimal changes for Tech. The latest has the Lady Raiders facing 10-seed Fairfield, with host Iowa taking on 15-seed California Baptist.

Matthew Walter released his latest bracket Saturday, with 7-seed Tech headed to host Iowa in Iowa City. The Lady Raiders would play 10-seed Fairfield, and 2-seed Iowa would face 15-seed UC San Diego.

College Sports Madness: 6-seed (Sacramento Region 3)

12:15 p.m. — An update Sunday still has 6-seed Tech playing 11-seed Fairfield in Ohio State’s quadrant. The Buckeyes would face 14-seed UTSA.

In a bracket released Saturday, 6-seed Tech is projected to head to Columbus, Ohio. The Lady Raiders would face 11-seed Fairfield, while host and 3-seed Ohio State matches up with 14-seed Vermont, the American East tournament champions.
