USA TODAY Bracketology projects Texas making NCAA Tournament

Life on the bubble. Texas fans are anxiously awaiting Selection Sunday for the NCAA Tournament. The Longhorns late season swoon has put a berth in March Madness in serious doubt. But the continuously updating Bracketology on USA TODAY Sports gives UT fans some hope.

In Sean Miller’s first year as head coach, the Longhorns started the season slow, but surged midway through the SEC conference schedule and were one of the hottest teams in the nation. But UT limped over the regular season finish line losing four of its last five and then crashed out of the SEC Tournament in a first round loss to Ole Miss.

The slump has put Texas back onto the bubble. The Horns will need to hope the resume they built midseason is what the selection committee looks at and not how the team finished.

Miller has tried to get his team to play with more consistency, even benching and publicly chastising point guard Jordan Pope. But Texas has looked lost at times over the past couple weeks. Not what Miller wanted in his first year on the Forty Acres.

USA TODAY Sports is updating its Bracketology as results happen in real time. Right now, Texas is forecast to get a No. 11 seed. In fact, USA TODAY doesn’t even list the Longhorns as one of the “Last Four In,” which means the Horns are fairly secure in their at-large position.

Time will tell. The NCAA Tournament Selection show is Sunday at 5 p.m. CT on CBS.
