Texas star linebacker Colin Simmons named No. 1 EDGE by EA CFB '27

Texas star linebacker Colin Simmons is the top-rated edge rusher in EA Sports’ College Football ’27. Simmons leads a group that includes Oregon Ducks duo Matayo Uiagalelei and Teitum Tuioti, Dylan Stewart of South Carolina and John Henry Daley of Michigan.

Simmons was one of the best edge rushers in the country last season. The sophomore had 43 tackles, 12 sacks and three forced fumbles. A big 2026 from the Duncanville native should set him up to be a Top 10 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian has been impressed with Simmons so far this offseason.

“He’s setting an example for the other guys of how to practice full speed.” – Texas Longhorns Coach Steve Sarkisian

Simmons will be a key in Will Muschamp’s defense this season. He is disruptive against the pass and he’s excelling at stopping the run.

“He’s doing a great job in the run game as well. I’m proud of Colin. You can feel speed, his explosiveness, his play making ability. But yet, he’s not ruining practice. Everyone is still getting their reps.” – Texas Longhorns Coach Steve Sarkisian

EA Sports College Football 27 will officially release worldwide on July 9, 2026.
