The slate is set for the November General Election following the primary runoff in Texas.
In El Paso, Republican voters bucked their primary vote in the U.S. Senate race by electing Attorney General Ken Paxton as their candidate after decidedly swinging toward incumbent U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-TX, in Tuesday’s March 3 primary runoff election. That vote mirrored what happened statewide, sending Paxton to face state Rep. James Talarico, D-Austin, in November.
Republican voters likewise hoisted former Border Patrol agent Adam Bauman to represent their party in the Texas Congressional District 16 race, where he will face an uphill battle trying to unseat incumbent U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar, D-El Paso.
In the attorney general’s race, Republicans swung for state Sen. Mayes Middleton, R-Friendswood, over state Rep. Chip Roy, R-Dripping Springs, while Democrats backed Nathan Johnson over Joe Jaworski, setting up a Middleton-Johnson showdown in November.
