After one year with the Longhorns, outfielder Maddox Monsour is searching for a new home. The Georgia native entered the transfer portal on Monday and should draw plenty of interest from teams in need of outfield help. While Monsour’s time in Austin wasn’t as long as he expected, he did see a lot of action.
During the 2025 campaign, the Carrollton High Alum posted a .185 batting average in 36 games. In that span, Monsour had 54 at-bats and added 10 hits to his resume, including one home run. While those statistics may not jump off the page, Monsour did have high expectations coming out of high school.
Before committing to Texas, the talented outfielder was a three-time All-State honoree. He also made headlines by rewriting his high school’s record books. He set the single-season steals record with 37 and the program record with 83. That is partly what made him a popular prospect during the recruiting process.
Since the portal opened, the Longhorns have taken some hits, losing eight players. However, they have also offset the losses with the various additions, including INF Linkin Garcia and OF Sawyer Solitaria. That list should continue to grow with more holes needing to be filled on the roster.
Over the next few weeks, Monsour will be a name to watch as he weighs his options. He has to improve at the plate, but he should be able to catch on with the team that needs more depth. If he can replicate his high school numbers, Monsour could be an impactful bat at his next stop.
