Brendan Sorsby’s football future is in limbo.
According to reports, the NFL will not hold a supplemental draft this year.
That means the former Texas Tech, Cincinnati and Indiana quarterback can’t enter the NFL in 2026.
That also means teams like the Cleveland Browns — and other teams with shaky quarterback situations — won’t have the opportunity to take the 6-foot-3, 235-pound quarterback.
Sorsby’s college eligibility was challenged after he admitted to a gambling problem that began during his freshman season at Indiana, where he bet on his own team. Court filings indicate he placed at least 40 wagers involving Indiana football, used accounts registered to others and wagered about $90,000 over four years. Sorsby threw for 2,800 yards, 27 touchdowns and five interceptions for Cincinnati last season.
“It is a violation of the CBA and the law. We will pursue this immediately with the NFLPA,” Sorsby’s attorney Jeffrey Kessler told ESPN.
The NFL hasn’t had a supplemental draft since 2019.
