Texas A&M junior P selected 71st overall by the Kansas City Royals in the 2025 MLB Draft

Justin Lamkin, the second-round pick, saw his draft stock rise after a strong junior campaign in what was a roller coaster of a season. In his final appearance as an Aggie, he delivered one of the best performances of his career, giving Texas A&M a glimmer of hope as the season slipped away. He tossed a scoreless, 15-strikeout complete game to lead a 6–0 victory over top-ranked Georgia.

Lamkin was one of three Aggies ranked in MLB Pipeline’s Top 250 prospects. After his final-game showing, the writing was on the wall, he was the most consistent starting pitcher, and his 5–7 record didn’t reflect his true impact. In his most productive year in Maroon & White, he finished with a 3.42 ERA, 98 strikeouts, one complete game, and one shutout across 84.1 innings of work.
