Seminole United Supermarket breaks ground, expects to open in 2027

Seminole is one step closer to having a new United Supermarket after a groundbreaking this week.

The United Family, which operates United, Market Street, and Amigos grocery stores across the region, broke ground on its newest upcoming location at the southeast corner of Hobbs Highway and 21st Street in Seminole on Tuesday. The United Supermarket grocery store and fuel station is expected to replace the current one in 2027, according to a news release.

“We are thrilled to announce a new United Supermarkets in Seminole,” said Sidney Hopper, president of The United Family. “It is always exciting to break ground on a new store, but this one is special because we know it will bring an enhanced grocery shopping experience in a larger footprint to a community that has already supported us for a long time. We love Seminole and, our team can’t wait to open the doors to this beautiful new building.”

The store will cover 49,000 sq. ft. and feature a full-service pharmacy with drive-through; mobile grocery ordering, pickup and delivery; a fresh in-store bakery; full-service floral with delivery; and a full-service meat counter, according to the release.

“We are proud to welcome this new, larger United Supermarkets grocery store, and we are especially grateful to the Seminole Economic Development Corporation board members for their hard work and dedication in making this vision a reality,” said Mayor Chet Clark. “It keeps our dollars local, strengthens our economy and improves our quality of life. This is a meaningful step forward for our community, and something we can be proud of!”

The store will also add a full-service deli, ReadyMeals and a dining area. The United Express fuel stop will allow guests to redeem rewards to get up to $1 off per gallon of fuel.

“We are proud and honored that United Supermarkets has decided to expand its footprint in Seminole,” said Kevin Petty, president of SEDC. “We are excited that this will bring additional products and services for the consumers and provide employment opportunities for those in our community. Our community is blessed with a vibrant and growing economy, and this expansion will be beneficial to all of us.”
