Ronald Burdick murder trial set to begin

The murder trial for Ronald Arthur Burdick is set to begin on Monday in the 30th District Courtroom in Wichita Falls.

Burdick, 45, was indicted for the murder of Michael Wesley Randall, 41, who was shot to death on June 9, 2023.

Suspects are considered innocent unless convicted beyond reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Affidavits filed in the case indicated Randall and his brother, Russell, were sitting in a parked pickup at a business in the 1900 block of Sheppard Road in Burkburnett. The affidavit states Burdick was on the scene and admitted to law officers he shot Michael Randall through the window as he sat in the passenger seat of the vehicle.

Burdick was arrested at the scene and charged with murder.

Wichita County Sheriff David Duke told the Times Record News on the day of the shooting that Russell Randall had driven his brother to Lindeman Welding to pick up his final paycheck.

Duke said deputies had been called to the shop earlier in the day to investigate a disturbance.

Documents filed in the case did not reveal a motive for the shooting.

Burdick’s bail was set at $1 million, and he was released from jail the following day, according to Wichita County online records.
