The Texas Tech softball program has added another pitcher via the transfer portal. Former Utah Utes ace Hailey Maestretti committed to the Lady Raiders on Wednesday, announcing the news on social media.
“I’m incredibly humbled and excited to join Red Raider Nation!” she wrote. “Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. Wreck ’Em Tech!”
Maestretti was a two-year contributor for the Utes and is coming off a breakout sophomore season. The lefty earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors after going 13-8 with a 2.53 ERA in 149.1 innings. She held opponents to a .254 batting average, striking out 82 batters and walking 46.
She improved her numbers across the board in her sophomore season, giving up 76 runs (54 earned) on 148 hits, including 23 doubles and eight home runs. She played in 34 games, making 24 starts and throwing 14 complete games.
Maestretti is ranked as the No. 19 overall player and No. 7 pitcher in the transfer portal by Softball America. She will have two seasons of eligibility at Texas Tech.
The Lady Raiders have once again been extremely active in the transfer portal as they gear up for the 2027 season and look to take home the elusive national championship. Maestretti is the fifth transfer they have landed already, and the second pitcher.
The transfer class is headlined by five-star outfielder Kasidi Pikcering, the No. 2 player in the portal. They have also landed former LSU pitcher Jayden Heavener, the No. 1 pitcher. The additions will give them one of the deepest pitching staffs in the country to pair with what should once again be a potent offense.
