Recent recalls: Check your home for these items with safety risks

When companies believe their products could potentially cause harm to buyers, they issue product recalls. But for customers, it can be easy to miss recall information once an item is already in your pantry, fridge or closet.

Here are some of the latest product recalls that might impact Corpus Christi residents. This article includes recent recalls issued in June and July for products sold by retailers with Corpus Christi locations, including Walmart, Target, TJ Maxx and Ross. This article does not include recalled products that were sold only online.

For more information about recalled products, including products bought online, visit the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission websites.

Additionally, some retailers including H-E-B, Target and Walmart, maintain lists of recalled products sold at their stores and websites.

Recalls are sometimes issued as a precautionary measure, but it is still unwise to eat or use a recalled product. Additionally, recalled products shouldn’t be given to pets, who can also suffer from food poisoning or injury.

If you’ve purchased an item that has been recalled, be sure to read the recall notice to learn how you can get a refund and how to dispose of the item safely.
