Corpus Christi police officers arrived at a residence at 8:05 a.m. in reference to the shooting and found a male inside with an apparent gunshot wound, according to a news release written by Corpus Christi Police Department senior officer Antonio Contreras.

They transported him to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, the news release said.

Police found the suspected shooter, 40-year-old Kimberly Rodriguez, who had left the location before the police arrived, and took her into custody. Rodriguez has been charged with murder.

Police said that officers are following up on leads and believe the shooting to be a case of family violence because the two people knew each other.

This is an active investigation.
