The 2025-26 season was JD Davison’s first for the Houston Rockets after spending the last three seasons with the Boston Celtics. A second round pick out of Alabama, Davison has yet to make his mark in the NBA, having averaged fewer than eight minutes per game in each of his four seasons.
For the Rockets last season, Davison made a career-high 28 appearances, but didn’t make too much of an impact despite his speed and athleticism. Davison averaged 2.5 points, 1.3 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 7.8 minutes per game. His shooting numbers were inefficient in nearly every aspect, shooting 25% from 3-point range, 37.5% from the field and 68.4% from the free-throw line. Undersized defensively at 6’1″ and now a career 26.6% shooter from beyond the arc, Davison will have trouble finding NBA minutes next season. Currently, the Rockets hold a $2.5 million club option for his contract next year, one they could easily justify declining.
