Texas A&M earns No. 12 seed, hosting Lamar, Texas State and USC

Texas A&M baseball learned its seeding and the complete field set to compete in the Bryan-College Station Regional this week.

The seeding for the 2026 NCAA DI Baseball Tournament and the Aggies opponents in the Bryan-College Station Regional were revealed during Monday’s selection show. Texas A&M’s 39-14 overall record and 18-11 mark in SEC play, along with 10 Quad I victories, wasn’t enough for the committee to give the Aggies a top-eight national seed, as the last slot was given to the Florida Gators.

Postseason baseball will still be held at Olsen Field, however. Texas A&M will play host to Lamar, Texas State and USC for a chance to advance to the super regionals on the line in College Station. The Aggies will open the double-elimination round against the Cardinals, while the Bobcats compete against the Trojans.

Despite all the metrics favoring the Aggies being a top-eight seed, the committee handed them the No. 12 seed, matched up against the Chapel Hill Regional. The winners from both will meet next weekend in a best-of-three super regional.

After a lackluster first season at the helm, head coach Michael Earley has completely turned the tables in year two. The Aggies were projected to finish 13th in the conference preseason coaches poll, but finished third overall and are hosting a regional at Blue Bell Park for the 14th time in program history.

Texas A&M has proven to be one of the most electric lineups in the SEC in 2026, ranking third with a .301 team batting average and second with 114 home runs. Injuries have been a massive obstacle for the Aggies throughout the season. Starting infielders Nico Partida and Boston Kellner have missed some time in recent weeks. At the same time, second baseman Chris Hacopian remains the designated hitter due to multiple injuries he suffered at the beginning of the year.

The Aggies’ pitching staff has also faced numerous injuries. Josh Stewart suffered a season-ending elbow injury in Texas A&M’s SEC opener, while Aiden Sims missed the Mississippi State series and the conference tournament with some tightness.

Partida, Kellner and Sims should all return to the starting lineup in the Bryan-College Station Regional, which is massive news for Earely, as he looks to lead his team to the program’s 11th super regional appearance.
