As the Texas Longhorns look to improve their 2028 class, they got an encouraging update from one of the top prospects on the board. Four-star cornerback James Foster will be on campus for a visit this weekend, according to OrangeBloods writer Jason Suchomel. The visit will provide head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff a chance to show Foster why Texas should be where he starts his college career.
Currently, Foster is ranked as the second-best safety in his class by 247Sports. They also rank the Lancaster High star as the second-best safety from the Lone Star state and the 20th-best player in the nation. Due to his high ranking, the Longhorns target has many options on the table.
During the recruiting process, the Texas native has drawn interest from programs nationwide. He has received offers from Miami, Notre Dame, Alabama, Arizona, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Penn State, and Oregon. That list could continue to grow the longer that Foster stays on the market.
As Foster has shown a talent for frustrating offensive coordinators, he has added to his trophy case. The elite safety was named the Texas District 11-6A Defensive Newcomer of the Year as a freshman. Since then, he has continued to excel while placing himself in special company.
For the Longhorns, the next few weeks are expected to be busy. They are set to welcome multiple prospects to campus, including Ty Winn, John Meredith, and Montre Jackson. All of those players are highly regarded and would be welcome additions.
When Foster is on campus, the focus will be to make him an offer that he can’t refuse.
