Two groups, U.S. News & World Report and the Texas Education Agency, recently released rankings and ratings that show the top high schools in Corpus Christi.
U.S. News & World Report shared rankings of the best U.S. high schools on Aug. 18. The rankings are based on student achievement on state assessments, graduation rates and college readiness measures, as well as how well schools serve underserved populations.
College readiness is based on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exam participation and performance.
U.S. News ranked nearly 18,000 public high schools out of more than 24,000 reviewed.
The data behind the rankings dates primarily to the 2023-24 school year.
Only one Texas school, The School for the Talented and Gifted in Dallas, is ranked in the top 10 in the country. Most of the schools that are ranked highest in Texas are in cities such as Dallas and Houston.
Here are the U.S. News & World Report rankings for Corpus Christi high schools:
Miller High School was not given a specific ranking, falling somewhere between 13,460 and 17,945 in the U.S.
Texas Education Agency ratings
The Texas Education Agency released ratings for every public school in Texas based on the 2025-26 school year, which is more recent data than U.S. News & World Report.
The Texas Education Agency looks at different metrics of success, focusing on student achievement, school progress and closing gaps. This results in a slightly different line-up of top schools.
For high schools, the ratings take into account college and career readiness, including dual credit and industry credentials earned by students.
This accountability system assigns a grade up to 100 to each campus, using the familiar A-F designations.
