One of El Paso’s most prized high school football recruits, El Dorado running back Ryan Estrada, announced his commitment to the University of Minnesota.
The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Estrada, who will be a senior for the upcoming 2025 season, rushed for 2,261 yards last year as a junior for the 10-1 Aztecs and scored 31 touchdowns.
He announced it on X on Tuesday, June 17.
He was named the El Paso Times’ All-City Offensive Player of the Year.
Estrada had numerous offers from Division I power programs, including Michigan, Alabama, Missouri, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
Minnesota competes in the Big Ten Conference, with P.J. Fleck serving as its head coach.
“Ryan developed a strong relationship with coach Fleck and the Minnesota staff,” El Dorado football coach Frank Martinez said. “The culture at Minnesota is something that Ryan really liked. Ryan handled the recruiting process so well, and I’m really happy for his family and for him.”
