While the Coastal Bend received heavy rainfall due to tropical activity, excessive heat is in the forecast for the area starting June 18.
The National Weather Service of Corpus Christi reported temperatures will be in the low 90s for at least eight days straight, with some days reaching close to 100 degrees.

Where to stay cool in Nueces County
In an effort to protect people from the dangerous heat, Nueces County is opening daytime cooling centers at all county community centers and libraries. The facilities will provide a safe, air-conditioned environment for anyone needing relief from the heat.
The following community centers and libraries will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., unless otherwise noted, June 17 and June 18:
Those needing transportation may get free rides to and from the cooling centers with the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority. Individuals just need to inform the bus operator they are traveling to or from a cooling center when boarding.
As of June 16, the city of Corpus Christi had not announced the opening of any cooling centers.
