Corpus Christi police officer arrested on indecent assault warrant

A Corpus Christi police officer has been arrested on a warrant for indecent assault and is on administrative leave, the Corpus Christi Police Department said in a news release.

The department obtained the warrant for Steven Moran on July 7, and he turned himself in to the Comal County Sheriff’s Office that evening, the news release said.

Indecent assault, a sexual offense, is a Class A misdemeanor that is punishable by a fine of up to $4,000 and up to a year in jail. The police department’s news release did not contain more details about what led to Moran’s arrest.

Moran is currently on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation that may lead to disciplinary action up to and including his termination, the news release said.

This is an active and open investigation.

“The Corpus Christi Police Department takes all allegations of crime and misconduct seriously and investigates them thoroughly in accordance with applicable laws and department policy,” the news release said.
