Colin Cowherd predicts AFC South standings with Texans and Colts on opposite ends

The AFC South is considered by many to be the easiest division in the NFL. In a sense, they’re right. One team stands tall, another is usually competitive enough to be in the running for first place, one straggles off after a hot start and another is flat out terrible.

For the Houston Texans, they’ve dabbled on both sides of the spectrum since 2020, though times have been kinder over the past two seasons. With 20 regular-season wins in two years, Houston looks to repeat as divison champs entering Year 3 of C.J. Stroud.

Will they? Perhaps. The Titans added a new quarterback in Cam Ward No. 1 overall and finished with a decent draft class. The Jaguars secured a new star in Travis Hunter and should be in line for at least double the number of wins under new head coach Liam Coen. And the Colts are, well, the Colts.

So, which team will come out on top in 2025? FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd made his predictions for each division in the NFL, along with wild-card teams in the playoff field, and he has the Texans repeating as AFC South champions.

“I’ll take the Texans going away, but I’m going to make a change,” Cowherd said. “I’m going to make the Titans a wild-card team.”

He believes the Titans will finish with not just a winning record, but also compete for a wild-card spot in a similar fashion to that of Denver in 2024 with Bo Nix. The Jaguars move up to No. 3 while the Colts round out the list and look for a new quarterback in 2026.

Rounding out the playoff teams are the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers as division champions. In the wild card stage, Cowherd has the Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots and Cincinnati Bengals advancing to the postseason.

He didn’t predict playoff matchups or who will win the Super Bowl, but he clearly thinks highly of the Texans as the defending champions.
