Following their fifth consecutive run to the UIL Softball State Championship game, several standout Coahoma softball players have been recognized as Class 3A Division II UIL All-State Tournament selections.
Senior catcher Mia Clemmer, senior center fielder Addi Hart and sophomore second baseman Bentli Wright were all rewarded with spots on the UIL’s 3A DII All-State Tournament Team after leading the Bulldogettes to the 3A DII state title game.
All-State Tournament team selections are voted on by the head coaches of teams who reached the UIL state semifinals in their respective classifications.
Coahoma defeated Grand Saline 13-3 in their state semifinal matchup before falling to Santa Gertrudis Academy 8-1 in the UIL state championship game.
Clemmer – a Texas Longhorns commit – racked up two doubles, two walks and one RBI on 2-for-4 hitting for the Bulldogettes during the state semifinal and state title game.
Hart tallied four RBIs, three runs scored, a home run, a double and two walks on 2-for-6 hitting during Coahoma’s final two games of the 3A DII UIL Softball Playoffs.
Wright went 1-for-5 at the plate and also pitched 3⅓ innings in the circle to net All-State Tournament teams honors.
