Change is coming to the clubhouse in Houston as the Texans prepare for their Week 1 battle against the Los Angeles Rams.
With final roster cuts come plenty of changes for the Texans, which include the opening of several jersey numbers. It’s common for rookies to shift over to their permanent numbers after training camp since veterans in the offseason have a first crack at what number they want following free agency.
Now that certain players have been released and landed with other teams, those still on the roster have more options to choose from when it comes to jersey numbers. It was already announced following the John Metchie trade that defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson was switching over to No. 8, but since then, several other options have decided to make the change.
Here’s a list of Texans players with new numbers for the start of the season.
The Texans open the regular season on the road at 3:30 p.m. at SoFi Stadium.
