Texas A&M offensive line coach Adam Cushing’s third season in College Station will be his most challenging after losing four starters to the NFL, who were all selected during the 2026 NFL Draft. However, the Aggies added four SEC starters from the transfer portal, and combined with the six signees from the 2025 recruiting class, depth and experience won’t be an issue.
This summer, Texas A&M’s No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class is built in the trenches after securing commitments from five-star OLs Mark Matthews and Kennedy Brown, followed by four-star tackles DaMarrion Johnson and Kaeden Scott, who are all projected as future starters during their first or second seasons. While four blue-chip offensive line commits seem like enough, coach Mike Elko and Cushing have their sights set on five-star OL Albert Simien, who will announce his commitment on Friday.
While the Aggies have been the leaders in Simien’s recruitment for quite some time, the Louisiana native took his official visit to Notre Dame last weekend and has slowly but surely become the predominant favorite to secure Simien’s commitment at the end of the week. Receiving a prediction from Rivals insider Sam Spiegelman to land with the Fighting Irish, who now hold a whopping 93% in Rivals RPM.
As they say, you can’t win ’em all, and Texas A&M’s future offensive line is in fantastic shape, especially given the Aggies’ retention rate under Elko and Cushing, who did not lose a single O-lineman in the transfer portal this offseason. I don’t expect the Aggies to pursue any more offensive linemen in the 2027 cycle, given the four commits, but that could change based on Friday’s outcome.
