Florida Atlantic’s footprint in the NBA continues to grow.
Former Owls forward Baba Miller was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 36th overall pick in Wednesday night’s NBA Draft, becoming the second former FAU player drafted in as many years.
FAU has now had a player selected in back-to-back drafts, a significant milestone for a program that went its first 36 seasons without producing an NBA draft pick.
Miller spent the 2024-25 season at FAU after transferring from Florida State. He started all 34 games for the Owls, averaging 11.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks while shooting 34% from 3-point range. He helped FAU finish 18-16 and reach the NIT.
After his lone season in Boca Raton, Miller transferred to Cincinnati, where he elevated his draft stock by averaging 13.0 points and 10.3 rebounds during his final collegiate season.
Miller joins Alijah Martin as the only former FAU players drafted into the NBA. Martin made program history in 2025 when the Toronto Raptors selected him with the 39th overall pick, becoming the first former Owl ever chosen in the NBA Draft.
The NBA connections tied to FAU have only strengthened this week. On Monday, former Owls coach Dusty May agreed to become the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks. May led FAU from 2018-24, transforming the program into a national contender highlighted by its Final Four run.
Several other former Owls have also landed professional opportunities in recent years. Center Vladislav Goldin signed a two-way contract with the Miami Heat in 2025 and appeared in nine games as a rookie. Former FAU standout Johnell Davis also joined the Orlando Magic organization and has spent time in the G League.
With Miller now hearing his name called on draft night, FAU’s pipeline to the professional game continues to gain momentum, a remarkable development for a program that had never produced an NBA draft pick before 2025.
