2 arrested in downtown Amarillo shooting investigation

Two people have been arrested as part of the investigation into an early Friday incident involving weapons near downtown Amarillo.

Dylan Black, 24, and Carlos Noel Martinez, 18, were both identified following a reported altercation, which ultimately led to their arrest, according to the Amarillo Police Department.

APD said both individuals were booked for weapons offenses. Black was booked into the Randall County Detention Center. Martinez was booked into the Potter County Detention Center.

Police continue to investigate the shooting incident that occurred near the area of the 100 block of Southwest 7th Avenue and South Polk Street during the early morning hours of May 8. During the investigation, officers recovered two firearms believed to be connected to the incident.

Amarillo officers responded to reports of shots fired in the downtown area of 7th Avenue around 2:18 a.m. APD said officers secured the area and detained multiple individuals during the investigation.

At this time, investigators have not identified any people struck by gunfire, and no injuries have been reported.

The investigation remains ongoing.
